Emily Rapport is known for her vibrant paintings of vacant lots, down-at-the-heels homes, gas stations, fast food restaurants, and El tracks. Painting these mundane scenes introduces a sublime element of reflection, a pause in which we notice a sunset reflected in a dirty puddle or ponder the deep blues and purples of a muddy construction site at dusk.

Emily Rapport studied painting at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, and received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.
