The “original” Delilah’s series from 2004 was created at the request of Mike Miller, owner of Delilah’s. The 9 paintings presented were based on photographs that I took over several months – this is pre-smart-phone and before digital cameras were affordable. I used a hand-held vivitar flash and my 35mm Canon to document the scenes I wanted to paint. Patrons were generous in their participation except for that one guy who didn’t want his picture taken. Although he did appear on film he was not immortalized in paint.

A decade later, I returned to document the iconic Chicago bar again – this time in watercolors and other aqua-media creating 16 new paintings and drawings. The show begins today, November 20, 2014 and will be on view through December 2014.
