Works on Paper

I started using watercolors in 2009. Between studio spaces, watercolors were more compact and less toxic to use at home.

I began drawing from source material for many of my “popular” El Track oil paintings. The immediacy of working with watercolor and the fluidity of the paint appealed to me and I started to develop my own style – closer to the opacity of an oil painting perhaps but with the freshness of working quickly.

Thematically consistent with my oil paintings: fast food places, laundromats, el tracks and neighborhood streets… all make an appearance here.
